Riser Repair Clamps – EPIC™
Repair damaged outer sheath on flexible risers without production downtime.
Riser repair clamps (EPIC™) seal breaches in the outer sheath and restore annulus protection. The solution provides a practical way to repair flexible risers while maintaining production. The clamps can be installed above sea level or subsea using rope access, divers, or ROV.
The Challenge
Damage to the outer sheath of flexible risers can affect annulus integrity and increase the risk of pipe degradation. Such damage is often identified during annulus testing, ROV inspections, or visual inspection of the riser.
When damage is detected, operators need a repair solution that can be installed safely and without interrupting production.
Typical situations include:
- Outer sheath breach above or below sea level
- Need to maintain annulus integrity
- Limited repair options for flexible risers
- Requirement for installation by rope access, divers, or ROV
The Solution
EPIC™ riser repair clamps are installed around the damaged section of the riser to seal the breach in the outer sheath and protect the pipe from further degradation.
The repair can normally be performed without shutting down production and with limited installation time. Each clamp is designed to match the riser diameter and the specific repair location.
EPIC™ clamp solutions have been installed on flexible risers on the Norwegian and British continental shelf, the Dutch sector, as well as installations in Asia and Africa.
